Typefi Orion system requirements

Your computer must meet the minimum technical specifications outlined below to run and use Typefi Orion for Microsoft Word v1.5. Not sure which version of Word you're using? Learn more here.

Orion for Microsoft Word 1.5

Released 7 August 2026

Requires Typefi Server 8.25 or later and Typefi Orion Compass 1.5 or later.

• Hardware
  • Orion for Word is compatible with the following operating systems:
    • Windows 11 or Windows 10 (64-bit edition)
    • Windows Server 2022, including deployments with Remote Desktop Services (RDS) and multiple concurrent user sessions
    • Virtual machines including Amazon and Azure VMs
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Hard disk: 1 GB free space for installation
  • Display: 1280 × 768 screen resolution

    Windows Server and Remote Desktop Services deployments

    If you're running Orion for Word on a shared Windows Server with several editors working in concurrent sessions:

    • Assign each editor with their own Windows account. Orion stores each editor's settings and sign-in in their individual Windows user profile.
    • Confirm your Microsoft licensing. Running Microsoft 365 Apps on a Remote Desktop server requires Microsoft's shared computer activation, which depends on your Microsoft 365 plan.
• Software
  • Microsoft Word: Office 365 (recommended), or Word 2016 (v16.x), Word 2019, or Word 2021 (64-bit) on the Semi-Annual Channel. Must be a locally installed, desktop version of Word—Word Online is not supported. A desktop installation accessed over Remote Desktop still counts as a local installation.
  • Microsoft .NET Framework: 4.7.2 or later
  • Visual Studio Tools for Office Runtime (VSTO): Runtime version 4.0; installed automatically if not present.
• Internet access: Required; broadband connectivity recommended
