Typefi Orion for Word 1.2

Released 24 April 2026

Introducing Insert Tags

🎉 Insert Tags is here—a key eXtyles feature, brought to Orion. You can now apply structured tags without touching a line of markup. Tags appear as clean, Word-native markers that keep your document readable.

The tags are managed by your administrator in Typefi Orion Compass v1.1 or later. See Manage Insert Tags for details.

Improvements

  • Pressing Tab at the last tab group in the Paragraph Styles palette now returns to the first group.
  • The Document Metadata dialog now has a cleaner, more consistent display.
  • Export to XML now supports workflows with non-XML outputs (for example, DOCX).

Fixes

  • Cleanup
    • Fixed an issue where multiple spaces generated by Convert soft returns to spaces were not removed when Remove multiple spaces was also selected. Note: Running these options in separate Cleanup sessions may still leave multiple spaces unremoved. See how white space cleanup functions interact for details.
    • Fixed an issue where one or more images were not exported when selecting Export and Remove Graphics.
  • Fixed an issue where publication names appeared duplicated in the dropdown after attaching and immediately detaching a publication.
  • In Paragraph Styles: Using Shift+click to apply a style to all table cells no longer causes the cursor to skip the next paragraph after the table.
  • Fixed a known issue where clicking Publication prompted you to sign in again, even if your credentials were previously saved in the Typefi Orion Options menu. The Test button in the Server Connections dialog (Orion → Options) now displays a warning when you enter an incorrect username or password.

Typefi Orion 1.1

Released 17 March 2026

Improvements

  • A warning now appears when running SmartReferences without an Edifix style defined in Orion Compass: Define the editorial style under SmartReferences in Orion Compass to proceed. For more information, see Set up your Edifix style.
  • After running Export to XML (Orion → Export), the exported file opens in your defined XML application. If no application is defined, Windows prompts you to select one.
  • The installer now supports extraction and silent enterprise deployment via Microsoft Intune.

Fixes

  • Cleanup
    • Selecting Add top and bottom borders no longer removes the existing borders between cells.
    • Blank paragraphs next to page or column breaks are now correctly removed when selecting Remove blank paragraphs and either Remove page breaks or Remove column breaks.
  • SmartReferences
    • References without authors no longer have their content removed.
    • Running SmartReferences with no paragraphs selected now processes and formats references as expected.
    • All metadata fields now display correctly in the Document Metadata dialog.
    • The ISSN is no longer added to the processed reference text.
    • Fixed known issues that caused the SmartReferences error dialog to appear, requiring manual correction:
      • Processed references were missing the correct start tag (for example, <jrn>).
      • Processed references with the <other> start tag contained the incorrect </unknown> end tag.
      • Reference numbers were removed unexpectedly.
      • Character styles were not applied to long reference titles.
  • Paragraph Styles
    • Fixed a known issue where consecutive attempts to attach documents to a publication disabled the Paragraph Styles palette.
    • Newly added styles no longer appear disabled in the Paragraph Styles panel.
